Lonavala and Khandala
Another set of hill stations very close to Mumbai - just 106 km away on Mumbai-Pune
Highway! And may be the most popular ones. Hills, lakes, streams - all come together to
add to the charm of the place. If it's just the two of you& you can go for a stroll
from Lonavala to Khandala. Just be careful of traffic on the roads. Beautiful hotels and
resorts add to the glamour of the place. The major attractions there are Lonavala lake,
Bhusi dam, Tiger's Leap, Barometer Hill, and of course the Chikies. Scenic beauty beckons
and cool breeze sings& just for you and your beloved.
Matheran
So close to Mumbai, yet so far - it makes you fall in love once again. Located 104 km
away from Mumbai, this lovely hill station is the best place to go if you have a short
time at your disposal. The mini train crawling through the mountains adds to the mystique
of the place. The beautiful forests along the way tempt you to get off the train and take
a stroll in the wilderness. There's plenty for sightseeing - Lake Charlotte, Honeymoon
Hill,Panther's Cave, Hart Point and much more
Another thing that makes it unique is that no motor vehicles are allowed in Matheran. All
vehicles halt at Dasturi Naka (3 km from Matheran). You can complete the remaining
distance on horseback, rickshaw or by foot. Karjat
Lying nestled between the majestic mountains of Matheran, Murbad and Lonavala, Karjat's a
welcome refuge from the daily noise and pollution. Covered by clear blue skies in the day,
that turn into a velvet, star-studded canopy by night, the peace and natural beauty of the
place soothe and heal all those experience it.
Karnala
Karnala Bird Sanctuary is located in Panvel Taluka of Raigad District. The sanctuary is
quite small with an area of 4.27 Sq.kms. The sanctuary abounds in bird life. The forests
are also ideal as a harbourage to wild animals. A casual walk through the forests is an
unfailing source of joy, with the list of bird-song ringing in the air.
